"A bluefly, if it clings to a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles..." Mystic Law.
While on tour in support of Sting's album "If On A Winters Night", cellist Vincent Segal, bassist Ira Coleman and I found ourselves with a rare day off in NYC.
I decided to put the time to good use in the recording studio and called in percussionist/ngoni player Tim Keiper to collaborate on some of my compositions.
We recorded until the sun came up the next morning, and the rest as they say- is history! That night of recordings built the foundation of the quartet BlueFly.
The songs on this album traverse time and space, as we expanded upon a treasure trove of musical ideas from across our collective unconscious.
Over the subsequent years, other friends contributed to the recording, helping to flesh out the music.. we tweaked and refined... cultivated and harvested... Now it's time for BlueFly to travel ten thousand miles!
